SUSTAINABILITY IN ACTION

From rooftops to roads, ÆON MALL Indonesia continues to embed sustainability in every aspect of its operation.

Our waste-to-energy approach turns solid waste into new resources — from using 8,000 recycled plastic bottles in asphalt mixes that pave 1,500 m² of parking area, to exploring biorefineries and methane utilization technologies that reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Energy efficiency also extends to water management: water-saving devices are installed across facilities, while recycled RO water is used for equipment and landscape irrigation. These efforts lower operational energy needs, conserve resources, and align our buildings with eco-green standards

LIVING GREEN SPACES

Since 1991, ÆON’s Hometown Forest Program has planted millions of trees with customers and communities — a tradition we proudly continue in Indonesia. Each mall cultivates native saplings around its grounds, creating mini-forests that absorb carbon dioxide and restore biodiversity.

Beyond environmental value, these tree-planting campaigns strengthen social bonds and empower local communities. Programs like #WeNanamPohon invite students, volunteers, and families to join hands for a shared purpose — turning awareness into tangible action.
